Policy Statement
In accordance with the Private Security Industry Act 2001 and Security Industry Authority (SIA) regulations, FKM GROUP LTD will only permit individuals who hold a valid SIA licence to carry out licensable activities. In limited circumstances, the Company may authorise an individual to work under a Licence Dispensation Notice (LDN) where applicable under the SIA Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS), and only during the licence application process.
Procedures
-
Eligibility to Work
Only individuals who hold a valid and appropriate SIA licence will be scheduled for duties involving licensable activities. Individuals without such a licence are not permitted to work unless:
- The Company is an SIA Approved Contractor.
- The individual is eligible for a Licence Dispensation Notice.
- The individual has submitted a complete application to the SIA and meets all criteria required under the ACS scheme.
Any employee or prospective employee who fails to meet these conditions will be unable to work until a valid licence or dispensation is obtained.
-
Licence Display Requirement
It is an SIA legal requirement that your licence is worn visibly while on duty. In line with this, FKM GROUP LTD requires all licensed staff to wear their SIA licence in accordance with official guidelines.
Failure to do so will be treated as a serious breach of company policy and may result in formal disciplinary action, in line with our disciplinary procedures, and could lead to dismissal for gFKM Group misconduct.
-
Responsibility to Carry Your Licence
It is each employee’s responsibility to ensure they have their valid SIA licence in their possession at the start of every shift.
- If you forget or are unable to present your licence for any reason, you must contact the FKM Control Room or Head Office before starting your duties.
- Failure to follow this procedure is considered a breach of company policy and may result in disciplinary action.
- Lost, Stolen, or Missing Licences
If your licence is lost, stolen, or misplaced:
- You must report it immediately to the Police, the SIA, and the FKM Control Room.
- A crime or incident reference number should be provided.
- Delayed or non-reporting may result in SIA enforcement action, including suspension or revocation of your licence.
Failure to report a missing licence to the Company is a serious breach of procedure and may lead to disciplinary action, up to and including dismissal.
-
Replacement Licences
If you receive a replacement SIA licence card:
- Inform the FKM Control Room immediately.
- Provide the updated licence number and expiry date so our internal systems can be updated.
Failure to provide updated licence details may lead to errors in scheduling or non-compliance.
-
Licence Revocation or Rejection
If your licence is:
- Revoked
- Suspended
- Withdrawn
- Rejected during application
You must immediately notify the FKM Control Room and cease licensable duties. Continuing to work in a licensable position without a valid licence is a criminal offence under UK law.
Failure to report any of the above may result in disciplinary action, up to and including summary dismissal.
-
Company Responsibility
FKM GROUP LTD will:
- Regularly monitor licence statuses via the SIA’s Licence Status Checker.
- Only allocate licensable duties to appropriately licensed individuals or those covered by a valid LDN.
- Maintain secure records of all licences, in compliance with the Data Protection Act 2018 and UK GDPR.
-

All breaches of this policy will be investigated fairly and in line with FKM GROUP LTD’s Disciplinary Policy and ACAS best practices. This includes:
- Right to be informed of the allegation
- Right to respond
- Right to representation
- Right to appeal
Sanctions may range from verbal warnings to dismissal for gFKM Group misconduct, depending on the severity of the breach.
